Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) views routine systematic collection of data related to each surgical procedure and the monitoring of that data as the cornerstone of best practice. IACTS hopes that knowledge of performance will lead to improved outcomes. 

The IACTS database committee welcomes feedback from participating sites on improving this initiative.

Mission

The mission being “To establish and maintain a database for the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) enabling data collection of cardiac thoracic surgical procedures, thus help surgeons provide high quality care through education and evidence-based research”. 

Vision

By establishing the database IACTS endeavors 

  1. To provide a platform that can collate and organize data from surgical procedures such that as a community the Indian fraternity of cardiothoracic surgeons can maintain a repository of surgical data. 
  2. This repository will serve the practice of cardiothoracic surgery by means of good clinical practice and prudent record management at a national level
  3. The national database will aid to obtain a picture of surgical demographics, surgical team demographics, epidemiology of disease in our country and technical progress that we have made and continue make in this milieu, when centers serving the society come together to participate in a celebration of good-data keeping and record management.
  4. Align and contribute towards three pillars of healthcare; patient care, education and research
