The Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons deeply mourns the passing of Dr. G.B Parulkar on May 4th, 2021.
Dr. Parulkar served the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons as its 4th Secretary between 1972 and 1978 and subsequently as the 12th President between 1981 and 1982.
He served as Professor and Head of the Department of the P.K Sen Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery at the Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College & King Edward Memorial Hospital in Parel, Mumbai, and went on to serve as Director and Dean of this prestigious institution.
The Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons, on behalf of all its Fellows and Members, extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and students of Dr. Parulkar. The passing of this pioneering forefather of our profession marks the end of an era in the chronicles of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in India.
